A HOME, BEFORE IT WAS AN ACETAIA

It all began with a father, Daniele, and a collection of balsamic barrels carefully kept for his daughters, following an old Modenese family tradition.

Years later, Sofia chose those very barrels as the starting point for a path of her own.

In 2015, the doors of the Malagoli family home opened to the world. Since then, we have welcomed travelers from across the globe to share our Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena PDO, our table, and the land we grew up in.

The Acetaia is still the heart of everything we do.
Everything else has grown around it.

Our Parmesan and balsamic tour was truly a highlight of our trip to Modena! From the moment we arrived, the guides welcomed us with warmth and passion, making it clear that this wasn’t just a tour—it was a journey into centuries of tradition. They were also so patient with my 18 month old!
Watching the Parmesan wheels being crafted and aged was fascinating, and the aromas alone were worth the visit! The tasting that followed was exceptional—sampling cheeses at different stages of aging gave us such an appreciation for the craftsmanship involved.
The balsamic vinegar portion was equally unforgettable. Learning about the aging process in wooden barrels, passed down through generations, was both educational and inspiring. And of course, tasting the rich, syrupy balsamic—paired perfectly with Parmesan—was a revelation.
The setting was authentic and intimate, giving us the chance to ask questions and really connect with the producers. It was clear how much pride and love they put into their work, and that energy made the experience even more special.
If you love food, culture, and stories that bring both to life, this tour is a must. We left not only with delicious souvenirs but also with a deeper appreciation for two of Italy’s most iconic flavors.

My daughter and I scheduled a visit to Acetaia Malagoli Daniele with only a week’s notice, and the staff could not have been more accommodating. They went above and beyond to help us plan every detail of our trip, including arranging transfers, which made the entire experience seamless and stress-free.

This was far more than a tour — it felt like being welcomed into a family. From the moment we arrived, we were treated with genuine warmth, kindness, and hospitality. We learned about the rich family heritage behind their historic DOP balsamic vinegar, prosciutto, and Parmigiano Reggiano production, and we also participated in a wonderful cooking class that made the experience even more memorable.

The property itself is absolutely stunning — peaceful, beautiful, and incredibly comfortable. Our room was spotless, modern, and had excellent air conditioning, which was especially appreciated during the warmer weather. Breakfast was generous and delicious, with hard-boiled eggs, cheeses, meats, cereal, cakes, and an endless supply of outstanding coffee.

If you are visiting the Modena area, do not miss the opportunity to experience this special family-run establishment. You leave not only with unforgettable memories, but feeling like you have made lifelong friends.

Wow! Where should I begin! Sofia and Barbra are absolute gems! From the moment I started planning our honeymoon and reached out to Sofia to inquire about a private experience at Acetaia Malagoli Daniele she was very thorough with answering all my questions. She planned an exquisite day for me and my husband which included pick up and drop off from our hotel, where we began our day at the Parmigiano Reggiano dairy farm/factory, followed by a wonderful lunch and pasta making class with her mom Barbra. By the way this was a highlight of our entire honeymoon as the pasta and bolognese she cooked for us topped off with by far the world’s BEST tiramisu we've ever tasted. We compared everything else we ate for the remainder of our trip to her dishes. Everything about lunch and this class was phenomenal! We then toured upstairs and got to experience the makings of Balsamic vinegar and enjoyed testing our palate. So happy we left with some goodies! Lastly, we ended our day driving through the countryside as we made our way to the Prosciutto di Modena factory where we got a first hand look of the aging processes of all the delicious cured meats! It was a beautiful day and we can’t wait to come back and do it all over! Highly recommended!
